Medical Billing & Coding — Level I & II

This comprehensive course prepares you to handle health insurance claims and forms so you can embark on a career with confidence. Your introduction to the national diagnostic and procedural coding systems include the major systems and conventions, plus reimbursement issues, HPCA billing directives, commercial insurance claims, modifications, file maintenance, Legal considerations. Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, HMOs, PPOs, Workers’ Compensation, Medicare, Medicaid and more.

PREREQUISITE: Completed a Medical Terminology class and have Basic Computer Workplace Skills which include Microsoft Word  and Excel.

Certificate awarded when Medical billing & Coding Level I and Level II have been successfully completed.

NOTE:
No certificate awarded until student satisfactorily completes both Level 1 and 2.
Levels 1 and 2 for either the Medical Billing & Coding course or for the Medical
Office Skills course. Level 1 and 2 must be completed within a calendar year.
We do not guarantee that Level 2 will be available every semester.

Medical Insurance Reimbursement & Coding Specialist

Seize the opportunity to work in the medical billing and coding field. This class will
prepare you to handle health insurance claims and forms. you will receive the
information you need to work with the national diagnostic and procedual codding
books, ICD-9 and CPT. Understand HCPA directives. Work with various types of
Health Insurance and government plans. Learn how to follow HIPPA and other
important legal considerations. be able to carry through with the various parts
of the billing cycle and collection. Become familiar with guidelines regarding
collections. Very experienced instructor in medical reimbursement including
medical billing and coding cycle.

Level I

Learn to handle health insurance claims and forms. Introduction to the national
diagnostic and procedural coding systems including: ICD-9-CM, HCPCS system,
CPT4 format, CPT symbols and conventions, CPT Index, Reimbursement issues,
HPCA billing directives, modifications, case organization, legal considerations,
HIPPA, various types of insurance plans, Workmen's Compensation, Medicare
and Medicaid. External and internal billing procedures and collections. Get a
medical terminology overview especially formatted for this field.

Certificate awarded after successful completion of Level I and Level II.
